Bio

Dr. Harvey Ramirez obtained his DVM degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He practiced veterinary medicine in small animal/exotics and emergency medicine for 2 years before pursuing a career in laboratory animal medicine. Dr. Ramirez is currently an assistant director and clinical assistant professor of laboratory animal medicine at the University of Florida Animal Care Services. He is a diplomat of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine and a certified veterinary acupuncturist. His areas of interest include the optimization of pain management practices for laboratory animals, particularly rodents, and the integration of complementary and alternative medicine into laboratory animal medicine. He has presented several acupuncture seminars and workshops at national laboratory animal sciences conferences. Dr. Ramirez is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine from Chi.
