Bio

Dr. Metzger-Smit grew up in South Florida. She graduated in 1988 from Florida Atlantic University School of Biological Sciences and in 1992 from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced in the Jacksonville area for 10 years. She developed an interest in complementary medicine to augment the practice of veterinary medicine. She was certified in animal chiropractic by the AVCA in 2001. She was certified as a Veterinary Acupuncturist and Herbalist by Chi and the China Society of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in 2000 & 2001, respectively. She moved to the Orlando area in 2002 and has practiced at the Piedmont Animal Hospital since August of that year. In 2009, she also received her certification for Tui-na, a form of gentle manipulation.
